✨ Subjective = n.Objectives : A Scene
Every day is a new adventure. I realise this every morning as I walk out to the world, unaware of what may come my way, only to look closer into details of the everyday events that happen around us. I silently observe a new face every hour, and I begin to wonder. Wonder what it’s like in a stranger’s life, what goes on in their head; do they wonder just as much as I do? I walk down the street across my home. I hear birds whistling while leaves rustle among the winds blowing all across the city. The weather feels cool and comforting. As I enjoy these cool summer breezes, which, I may add, don’t really last long, I realised I didn’t know the way ahead. I felt lost.
Hopeful that I’d figure my way back soon enough or I’d easily seek help when I find it, my attention gets drawn towards a crowd. A bunch of people murmuring louder and louder every second, I sense chaos. I am compelled to look closer at these people, what they’re struggling with, trying to understand why they are bothered. I look at them closer, one by one. One, with crunched eyebrows and eyes wide open, lurking around with her head held back, I observe a curious face. I wonder what’s been so fascinating around this place for him.
Another, struggling to make sense out of what was being said, stammered, cracked his knuckles constantly and bit his nails. He blinked frequently and avoided making eye contact. He looked nervous.
Another, hesitant to interact with people, fidgeting with the things in her bag, seemed disconnected from this group of people. Before I could even try making conversation, she began to retreat into the crowd. She was shy.
There sat another person close to this group of people. With drooping eyes and no expression on his face, he held his head with his palm and stared constantly at a blank screen on his laptop. He kept clicking-unclicking a pen, wandered around aimlessly and complained he had nothing to do. He was bored and restless! I found this person particularly interesting because I understand boredom all too well and it was amusing to observe this happen with someone other than me. It seemed as though he was craving company when I went ahead and said hi. I was worried that this conversation might be awkward, but I was proved wrong! I couldn’t help but notice the blank expressions on his face slowly fade to excitement. His eyes opened wide and his eyebrows rose as we got along talking about our favourite movies. He began to talk about his opinion on directing and film making with confidence. He seemed experienced. I could notice by the way he talked how bold, clear and excited he was. Our conversation went on to getting to know each other better. We talked about our friends and schools and with all this happening in my dull at first but interesting later day, I realised how my perspective changed as I explored more.
I guess it’s all about opening our minds to the best of possibilities, don’t you think?
